CLEVELAND — Two people were transported after an East Cleveland Police Department pursuit ended in a crash late Tuesday night, according to Cleveland police officers who responded to the scene.
At approximately 10:55 p.m., East Cleveland police officers responded to a home for a shots fired call. Officers located a blue SUV that matched the description given by residents.
The blue SUV fled after an officer activated his cruiser lights and siren. It continued down Shaw Avenue near East 113rd Street, where it struck a street light pole.
The SUV continued down East 133rd Street, where it struck a guardrail, and a passenger exited the vehicle.
In the area of East 113th Street and St. Clair Avenue, the blue SUV hit a car, injuring that driver, who was taken by EMS to the hospital.
The SUV then crashed into a utility pole before it burst into flames, police said.
The driver fled the scene on foot but was eventually arrested and transported by EMS.
The driver of the car hit by the fleeing SUV had minor injuries.
