The City of Brotherly Love will have to wait a little longer to rock with “The Boss.”
Bruce Springsteen announced Wednesday on X, previously known as Twitter, that his shows tonight and Friday are postponed because of illness.
“Due to Bruce Springsteen having been taken ill, his concerts with The E Street Band at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on August 16 and 18 have been postponed,” Springsteen’s X account said.
Rescheduling dates are being worked out. People with tickets are asked to hold on to them.
Band members have previously missed shows due to COVID-19 on the tour and shows in Ohio and the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut were postponed due to illness. Springsteen and wife Patti Scialfa missed the inaugural American Music Honors event April 15 at the Pollak Theatre on the campus of Monmouth University in West Long Branch due to COVID-19, said Bob Santelli, head of the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music, from the stage.
Up next are two shows at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. then Jersey homecoming shows Wednesday, Aug. 30, Friday, Sept. 1, and Sunday, Sept. 3, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
