A 43-year-old Wilmington man died Friday night after being hit by a car in the area of Branmar Plaza, according to the Delaware State Police.
State police said the man walked directly in the path of a 2017 Honda Accord “for unknown reasons” and was not walking on a crosswalk or using a flashlight. The collision occurred at 9:17 p.m. Friday on Marsh Road at Silverside Road. The man had yet to be identified Saturday afternoon.
The driver of the Accord, a 58-year-old man from Wilmington, was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. No other cars were involved in this collision, according to state police.
The roadway was closed for around three hours as a result of the collision.
