Bodies of 2 missing men pulled from KK River Thursday morning
Both men swept away by rushing waters into drainage canal
The bodies of the two men who were missing in the Kinnickinnic River in Milwaukee were found Thursday morning, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office said.”One thing we have observed is a very close-knit and strong community, and we are hopeful and offer our support that they’re gonna be able to pull through this and find strength on the other side,” Milwaukee Fire Department Chief Aaron Lipski said. News Chopper 12 was over the scene as the Milwaukee Fire Department recovered the first body just after 8:30 a.m. near Hilbert Street, just east of Kinnickinnic Avenue, and brought it to shore.The second was found near 1st and Becher streets. Both men went into the water Monday near 27th Street and Loomis Road to try and save 10-year-old Muhammad Arman Bin Rashidullah. His body was found Tuesday near Pulaski Park. The men have not yet been officially identified, but the family is accepting the tragedy, telling WISN 12 News reporter Hillary Mintz this was the closure they needed. “It would really bring closure to everyone in the community, this whole street. Everyone is like family, when something like this happen in front of us, it’s tragic for everyone,” Siti Ayu said. Autopsies are scheduled for Friday.The Milwaukee Fire Department said there is a difficult lesson to be learned from this.All week it’s been stressing how dangerous the river waterways can be, especially after a heavy rain. They urge everyone to keep out.
