HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Drivers in and around Ashland are asked to plan ahead and be extra cautious this weekend as a large number of people are expected to be in town for the Secretariat Day celebration.
According to the Ashland Police Department, drivers should expect heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, particularly on England Street in the area of Railroad Avenue and the Randolph-Macon campus.
Police recommend drivers use Ashcake Road as an alternative to England Street.
Parking for drivers visiting for Secretariat Day will be available north of the intersection of England Street and North Railroad Avenue on Randolph Macon’s campus.
