Delaware State Police have arrested a Delmar man in the April 14 shooting death of 18-year-old Corey Mumford in Laurel.
Jhalir Henry, 27, was arrested without incident Friday in the 30000 block of Johnson Road in Salisbury, Maryland. He is being held there until he can be extradited to Delaware, where he will be charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and first-degree conspiracy, police said.
Henry is “one of the suspects involved” in Mumford’s homicide, police said in a news release.

Mumford, a Laurel High School senior, was walking with friends in Laurel’s Wexford Village apartment complex when he was shot, around 2:40 p.m. Police said he was not the intended target.
Mumford was one of three people shot in Laurel last week. On April 12, around 12:45 p.m., the Laurel Police Department responded to Hollybrook apartments for a shooting. An “adult male” victim was struck and transported to a hospital by bystanders. The Laurel Police Department said in a Facebook post the victim suffered “life-threatening” injuries and was ultimately transferred to a “trauma facility.”

The only information Delaware State Police have provided about a shooting just after midnight Saturday, April 15, on Shiloh Church Road in Laurel, is that the victim was still alive as of Friday afternoon, according to State Police Cpl. Leonard DeMalto.
“Detectives are looking into possible connections between the shootings,” DeMalto said.
