The Florida Highway Patrol said the fire truck was eastbound on Burkholm Road and entered the intersection in an attempt to travel south on U.S. 1. The 2014 Ford pickup, driven by a 35-year-old Mims man, was southbound on U.S. 1 when the vehicles collided, the FHP said.
Brevard County Fire Rescue said a crew was returning from a call when the two-vehicle wreck happened.
The pickup driver and three firefighters were taken to the hospital, according to an FHP crash report.
The crash happened in front of Angel Chamlee’s home, and she called 911 and rushed out to help.
“It was like the loudest boom you’ve ever heard,” Chamlee said.
Chamlee said the crash caused the fire truck to turn over.
“(The driver of the pickup truck) kept saying ‘I was trying to stop. I was trying to stop. Trying to make it so it wasn’t so bad.’ He had no idea that they were all going to flip at the same time,” Chamlee said.

All the victims were wearing seat belts, according to the crash report.
The FHP said the wreck remains under investigation.
U.S. 1 was closed in the area, but the roadway was reopened Monday morning.
