Delaware regained its shooting touch in overtime and defeated Northeastern 82-76 in a nationally televised Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball game at Matthews Arena in Boston on Monday night.
The Blue Hens led by as many as 15 points early in the second half before Northeastern rallied behind its sharp shooting and rebounding.

The Huskies tied it 64-64 with 6:33 left on Shaquille Walters’ 3-pointer and again 67-67 on Walters’ two free throws with 2:22 to go before, after missing several chances to take the lead, inching ahead 69-67 with 1:46 remaining on Jahmyl Telford’s drive.
Kevin Anderson’s two foul shots tied it for Delaware 69-69 with :48 left. Both teams missed subsequent chances, including Anderson’s jumper from the left corner and Jameer Nelson’s putback attempt in the final seconds for Delaware.
Delaware was 0-for-7 and 1-for-10 from the field at the close of regulation.
But the Blue Hens were 5-for-6 in OT, taking the lead for good on Andrew Carr’s 3-pointer that made it 75-73 with 2:40 to go, with Anderson’s steal and layup quickly extending that margin.
Delaware (12-6 overall, 3-2 CAA) was playing its sixth straight road game and fifth in a row to open the league schedule. The Blue Hens will now play seven of their next nine at home, beginning with Thursday’s 7 p.m. visit from William & Mary followed by a Saturday 1 p.m. tip-off with Elon and a Monday night showdown with Towson.

Northeastern, which was led by Walters’ 23 points, fell to 6-11, 0-6 and has lost three straight to Delaware on its home court.
Dylan Painter had 20 points and nine rebounds to lead Delaware. Carr had 18 points, Ebby Asamoah 16 and Anderson 13 points plus a season-high nine assists.
Ryan Allen played 14 minutes after having to leave Saturday’s loss at Hofstra late in the game with a knee injury.
Delaware led by as many as 11 points in the first half. Asamoah’s 4-point play with 21 seconds left before halftime gave the Blue Hens a 39-29 lead at the break. Delaware shot 58 percent from the field in the first half.
Delaware shot 54 percent overall (28-for-52) and 50 percent on 3-pointers (9-for-18) on the night but was again undermined by turnovers with 15.
