At least one person was killed in a house fire Monday morning in a development north of Middletown.
The extent of the burns to the person killed in the fire made it difficult to immediately identify them, Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio said. The body is being turned over to the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
The blaze at a 2.5-story farmhouse, located in the 200 block of Oak Drive in the Airmont Acres development, was reported about 8:35 a.m. Monday, according to volunteer fire companies from Middletown and Port Penn.
Chionchio estimates the damage at about $200,000.
