The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office found that Friday night’s fire that heavily damaged a Farmington home was accidental.
According to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio, the Farmington Volunteer Fire Company was called to the 19000 block of South DuPont Highway near Williamsville Road just after 9 p.m. There, they found smoke “pouring from the home,” Chionchio said.
Farmington firefighters were able to put out the blaze with the help of other nearby fire companies, Chionchio said. No injuries were reported.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the fire, which caused an estimated $100,000 in damages. They determined it was started by a malfunctioning oil fueled furnace, Chionchio said.
