A 37-year-old pedestrian from Philadelphia was killed in a crash after midnight Sunday in Delaware City, according to Delaware State Police.
She has since been identified as Jade Lassiter.
Police said Lassiter was crossing South Du Pont Highway near Mid-County Drive at 12:31 a.m. At the same time, police reported that two 24-year-old women from Wilmington and Middletown in a white 2014 Chevrolet Cruze were traveling north on the highway.
The front passenger side of the Cruze hit Lassiter, who was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to police. She later died there.

Both occupants of the Cruze were wearing seat belts, police reported, and neither “requested medical attention.” Delaware State Police did not give a reason for the crash but did state that Lassiter was not using a crosswalk or wearing reflective gear.
The crash closed part of South Du Pont Highway for three hours, police said.
