Multiple roads in Newark remain closed Wednesday afternoon as police conduct an investigation.
Newark Police issued a press release saying someone is custody, but they have not specified why the person was arrested or why police were investigating in the first place.
Police, however, did clarify that this was not an active shooter as some social media posts were claiming.
“This was not an active shooter,” said Lt. Andrew Rubin, a police spokesman. “I’m still gathering more details.”
Ogletown Road remains closed between Library Avenue (Route 72) and White Clay Center Drive. Marrows Road is also closed between Ogletown and Wyoming roads.
Motorists should find alternative roadways.
Rubin said police would be releasing an update when more information was available.
