Students at Northwest Local Schools have been punished for posting racist signs at the water fountains at school, school officials said in a message to parents.The Northwest Local Schools district says it happened at Colerain High School on May 5.The district said, students hung the signs over the water fountains at the end of the school day, took pictures and shared them on social media.School officials say the signs were then taken down quickly by the students.A letter was sent out to Colerain High School parents identifying two students involved.In a statement, Northwest Schools said in part, “those who participated in this tasteless and hurtful act have been issued significant disciplinary actions.” It went on to say, “we want to make sure our staff, students, families and community, understands where we stand on racial intolerance, discrimination, racism and hatred.”The school said this behavior won’t be tolerated and does not reflect the values and culture at the schools across the district.
