A 23-year-old man has been charged with entering a Dover barbershop and fatally shooting a patron of the business last year.
Delaware State Police did not give a motive as to why they said Kyree Robinson killed 23-year-old Javon D. Jones and Delaware courts have not responded to requests for public documents explaining Robinson’s arrest.
“Through investigative measures, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit identified Kyree Robinson as the suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest,” according to Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto, a police spokesman.
What police have said is that Robinson entered Uplift Barber Shop, located at 1534 Governors Ave., about 5:40 p.m. on May 15, 2021.
After entering through the shop’s front door, police said Robinson fired several shots at Jones, striking him in the upper torso. Robinson then fled on foot.
There were other people in the barbershop during the shooting, but no one else was injured, police said. Calls placed to the barbershop, which goes by another name, were not answered on Friday.
Jones was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.
