A man has been charged with murder following a fatal shooting of a Delaware man in Yonkers, New York, last year.
Eric Lamont Prince Williams of Staten Island, New York, has been accused of killing Jabree West on June 20. Yonkers police believe the two men knew each other and the shooting was “the violent culmination of several disputes between them over personal matters.”
West lived in Delaware, where Williams also had ties, police said. The pair traveled together to Mount Vernon and then to Yonkers while possibly looking for a car service, police said, when Williams allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot West in the head on Bronx River Road around 5 a.m.
West, 22, died at a hospital.
Williams, 22, allegedly fled the area, including later traveling to Delaware, before he was arrested on Staten Island on Dec. 19.

Police said they had little information initially, but they worked backward to trace West’s movements and identify a person of interest. They worked with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office to build the case against Williams, who was taken into custody with the help of Yonkers detectives and members of the FBI Westchester County Safe Streets Task Force. He allegedly had a loaded, illegal .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun when he was arrested.
Williams was charged in Richmond County with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony. He was transferred to Yonkers City Court on Monday when he was arraigned on a felony count of second-degree murder, police said.
Williams is being held without bail and is due back in Yonkers City Court on Jan. 14.
The NYPD’s 120th Precinct Detective Squad and the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit also helped with the investigation.
