RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A 14-year-old boy died in the hospital after he was found lying in the road with a gunshot wound, according to the Richmond Police Department.
At 10:54 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, Richmond police officers were called to the intersection of 4th Avenue and Front Street for a reported shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a 14-year-old boy lying unresponsive in the road, with an apparent gunshot wound.
He was taken to a local hospital where he died due to his injuries, according to police.
The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
Detectives with the Richmond Police Department are investigating the possible circumstances that led to the shooting and ask anyone with information or video from surveillance cameras in the area to contact detectives by calling Major Crimes Detective G. Sullivan at 804-646-3929.
