HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Four people, including one person who was hospitalized, have been displaced following an early morning house fire in Hanover County.
According to a spokesperson for Hanover Fire-EMS, crews responded to the 11300 block of Old Elmont Road in the Ashland area for report of a house fire.
First responders arrived to find the two-story home well-involved in fire, with smoke and flames pouring from the back of the building.
A total of 11 crews worked to put out the fire. The scene was marked under control by 8:05 a.m., according to the spokesperson.
The four adults who lived in the home were able to escape before crews arrived. According to the spokesperson, one of them needed to be hospitalized for minor injuries.
They and the other three adults are currently being aided by the Red Cross.
According to the spokesperson, the scene is still active while an investigation into the fire is carried out. If you need to travel in this area, you are asked to use caution.
No other information is known at this time. The spokesperson could not currently say if the home is considered a total loss or if it will be inhabitable again.
