Ashland Police Department releases traffic alert for annual Railroad Run in March

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Ashland Police Department has issued a traffic alert for the Railroad Run taking place during March.

According to Ashland Police, the annual Ashland Railroad Run will be held on Saturday, March 23 between 7 to 11 a.m., and many roads will be temporarily closed.

This will include the west side of the tracks of South Center Street, as well as South James Street, the Lankford’s Crossing subdivision and Gwathmey Church Road.

Southbound South Center Street between Myrtle Street and Ashcake Road will be closed for the duration of the Run. In addition, Ashcake Road will be closed in intervals at the railroad crossing of South Center Street.

The department said drivers may expect delays traveling in the following areas:

  • Center Street between Gwathmey Church Road, Ashcake Road and Myrtle Street
  • Roadways throughout Ashland Historic District, Duncan Street, Hanover Avenue and the Lankford’s Crossing subdivision

Ashland Police, along with Hanover County Sherriff’s deputies and volunteers will be on site throughout the process to assist drivers with transitioning through the course.
