RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A dog walk was held at the Virginia War Memorial on Saturday to honor military dogs and dogs who have spent their lives in service.
On Saturday, March 16, friends, family and furry companions gathered at the Virginia War Memorial for a K-9 Veteran’s Day Memorial Dog Walk to honor all K-9 military working and service dogs.
The event began at 10 a.m. at the Virginia War Memorial’s Heilman Amphitheatre and was a 0.9K dog walk with stops to remember military and service dogs throughout history. The event also included dog caricature portraits.
According to a spokesperson for the event, the mission of the “0.9K for K-9s” walk is to honor all military, law enforcement, search and rescue and other service dogs on the battlefields of war and local communities.
