Six People Found Dead in Ottawa Home

The police in Ottawa were investigating the deaths of six people, including four children, who were found at a home in a residential neighborhood in the south end of the city late Wednesday night.

A man was arrested in connection with the killings shortly after police received several emergency calls to the home at around 11 p.m., police said. Investigators remained at the home more than 12 hours later.

The names of the accused, and those of the victims, were not immediately released, nor was the manner of death. The police planned a news conference later on Thursday.

Ottawa Police Chief Eric Stubbs, speaking to CTV News Ottawa, said that investigators do not believe the deaths were “a domestic or intimate partner related incident.” In subsequent interviews throughout the morning, he declined to provide additional details.

Mark Sutcliffe, Ottawa’s mayor, offered his condolences to the family in a statement posted on X, calling the homicides “one of the most shocking incidents of violence in our city’s history.”

This is a developing story.
