CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — For the past four years, 77-year-old Patricia Bracey has walked out to the corner of Iron Bridge Road and Magnolia Shore Lane in the Chester area of Chesterfield County from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. every morning – waving and smiling at passing drivers.
The only reason you won’t see Bracey on the corner is if it’s raining or snowing.
“That’s the best part of my day,” said Bracey. “Some people wave, some people honk the horn, some people flash their lights.”
One might ask why Bracey does this. The answer, she said, is God. Bracey is originally from South Hill and said that, before she became a home health aide, she was homeless for a period of her life.
But through those hard times, she kept believing. And to give back – she does this small act of kindness to try and brighten someone’s day.
Bracey said she isn’t stopping anytime soon and that whoever wants to join knows where to find her.
