PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — The reckless driver who evaded Virginia State Police from Chesterfield County to Petersburg on Saturday, Feb. 24, has been identified as an 18-year-old Petersburg man. According to state police, all three of his passengers were teenagers.
The driver, 18-year-old Donovan T. Myrick of Petersburg, was reportedly speeding at 88 mph in a 60 mph zone on Interstate 95 southbound in Chesterfield. A patrolling state trooper, noting both his speed and that his 2003 Infiniti G35 was improperly registered, attempted to pull him over.
However, according to police, Myrick sped away — initiating a lengthy chase.
This pursuit crossed through multiple jurisdictions, including Chesterfield and Colonial Heights, before it came to an abrupt end in Petersburg. According to police, Myrick crashed the Infiniti on Crater Road at Medical Park Boulevard.
According to police, Myrick and three unidentified teenage boys fled the vehicle. At the time of reporting, Myrick and two of those passengers have been taken into custody. One of the boys still remains at large.
The two passengers currently in custody have not been charged.
Myrick has received several charges, including:
- Reckless driving
- Felony eluding in Chesterfield County, Colonial Heights and Petersburg
- Driving with a revoked license
- Driving without insurance
- Failure to register a vehicle
- Forged license plates
No other information is available at this time. The investigation, as well as the search for the third teenager, continues.
