Reckless driver flees state police from Chesterfield, crashes in Petersburg

Three of the four people riding in the vehicle are now in custody

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia State Police pursued a reckless driver and his three passengers through multiple jurisdictions, beginning in Chesterfield County and ending in Petersburg with a vehicle crash.

At about 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, a state trooper patrolling in Chesterfield witnessed a black Infiniti driving southbound on Interstate 95 near Willis Road, doing 88 mph in a 60 mph area. According to police, the Infiniti was not properly registered.

The trooper turned on his emergency lights and sirens and attempted to pull the Infiniti over. According to police, the Infiniti instead sped away, beginning a lengthy police chase.

The chase proceeded through multiple jurisdictions until it came to a sudden end in Petersburg, where the Infiniti crashed on Wagner Road at Medical Park Boulevard.

Four unidentified males were in the vehicle. According to police, all four fled the Infiniti, initiating a search.

As of 2:34 p.m., the driver and two passengers have been arrested and one passenger remains at large, according to state police.

Charges are pending for those involved. No other information is available at this time.
