HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Henrico County Public Schools has announced that it will reward its 413 full-time bus drivers with a pay raise.
According to Henrico County Public Schools, the bus drivers will receive a pay boost that will be in effect on March 1.
The school system said it has set the new minimum hourly wage to $22.98 — almost $4 per hour more than the current starting pay rate of $19.05.
The school system said that new and current bus drivers would still be eligible for annual pay raise in July, which is a part of the division-wide pay increase.
Key components of bus driver pay raise include:
- Increase in minimum hourly wage: The new rate for bus drivers would be $22.98 an hour, which is a 20.63% from the prior starting rate of $19.05 an hour.
- Increased pay for current drivers: Current drivers in the division will see a pay increase estimated between 12-20%, depending on pay rate and pay grade.
