Police: Shootout in Fayetteville hotel parking lot was not random :: WRAL.com

— Fayetteville police are investigating a shooting on Saturday night. Six people were hit just before 9 p.m. Saturday at the Baymont Inn parking lot on Owen Drive.

William Franklin Davis Sr., 42, of Fayetteville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Keith Allan Dickey, 37, of Lumber Bridge, NC, and Donald Dillenbeck, 49, of Vestal, NY, both died later at the hospital.

Another three people are being treated for gunshot wounds that police described as life-threatening.

A man who lives in the hotel told WRAL News, “I was in my room and I heard the shots and I came out to the balcony. I saw about about eight or nine guys. They were shooting. One dropped right there by the dumpster.”

He said he saw several of the people involved leave the scene, including one of the wounded.

Police have said they do not believe the shooting was random, but they have not released any information about how the men might have known each other, any motive or what prompted the gunfire.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Detective R. Vernon at 910-729-2525 or Crimestoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477).
