RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Officers with the Richmond Police Department responded to the area of Richmond City Justice Center for a vehicle that crashed into a utility pole.
Around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, a minivan driving on Oliver Hill Way ran off the road, jumped the curb and hit a utility pole, causing it to fall near the Richmond City Justice Center.
Police did not share any information about the driver or their condition but the vehicle appeared to have sustained damage, including a deployed airbag and a broken fender.
The downed pole didn’t affect power for nearby residents — it only knocked out the circuit so a few nearby streetlights were taken out.
Roads in the area were blocked off as a result of the crash. Crews with the City of Richmond worked to clear the scene and repair the utility pole throughout the morning. According to authorities, a new pole is expected to be put up at some point later today.
