Chesterfield man arrested by FBI for alleged role in Jan. 6 Capitol breach

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WRIC) — A Chesterfield County man has been arrested and is facing several federal charges in connection to his alleged involvement in the breach of the United States Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 51-year-old John Michael Livingston of the Midlothian area of Chesterfield was arrested on Friday, Jan. 19 by FBI agents in Virginia, and will appear in court in the Eastern District of Virginia.

According to the indictment, which was filed in the District of Columbia, Livingston is facing the following charges:

  • Felony obstruction of an official proceeding
  • Knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority
  • Disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds
  • Disorderly or disruptive conduct in a Capitol building
  • Parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building

According to the Department of Justice, more than 1,265 people from nearly all 50 U.S. states have been charged for crimes related to the breach of the Capitol.
