RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Over 9,700 central Virginia residents are without power as a result of storms throughout the afternoon and evening on Tuesday.
With winds ranging from 40 to 60 mph and a tornado watch in effect for several counties in central Virginia, many residents are feeling the storm’s effects.
As of 11:30 p.m. Jan. 9, the following number of businesses and homes were without power in central Virginia:
- 166 in the City of Richmond
- 271 in the City of Petersburg
- 122 in the City of Hopewell
- 6 in the City of Colonial Heights
- 2,357 in Henrico County
- 2,794 in Chesterfield County
- 895 in Hanover County
- 163 in Dinwiddie County
- 1,009 in Prince George County
- 412 in Goochland County
- 479 in Powhatan County
- 251 in Charles City County
- 604 in New Kent County
- 183 in Cumberland County
