Over 9,700 central Virginia buildings without power during Tuesday’s storm

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Over 9,700 central Virginia residents are without power as a result of storms throughout the afternoon and evening on Tuesday.

With winds ranging from 40 to 60 mph and a tornado watch in effect for several counties in central Virginia, many residents are feeling the storm’s effects.

As of 11:30 p.m. Jan. 9, the following number of businesses and homes were without power in central Virginia:

  • 166 in the City of Richmond
  • 271 in the City of Petersburg
  • 122 in the City of Hopewell
  • 6 in the City of Colonial Heights
  • 2,357 in Henrico County
  • 2,794 in Chesterfield County
  • 895 in Hanover County
  • 163 in Dinwiddie County
  • 1,009 in Prince George County
  • 412 in Goochland County
  • 479 in Powhatan County
  • 251 in Charles City County
  • 604 in New Kent County
  • 183 in Cumberland County
