Delaware’s favorite son, President Joe Biden, will be at his home near Rehoboth Beach again this weekend.
According to the White House’s “Week Ahead Guidance,” Joe and Jill Biden will travel to their North Shores home Friday and stay for the weekend.
It’s not yet known whether the First Couple will be flown or driven to the area. If they fly, the Marine One helicopter will land in the Gordon’s Pond parking lot, at the south end of Cape Henlopen State Park, and the area will close for a few hours. The Bidens’ home is right around the corner.
If they drive, intersections on Coastal Highway will be briefly shut down by police as the motorcade passes through.
During past visits to the Delaware beaches, the president hasn’t gone out much. He goes to Mass at St. Edmond’s Roman Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach on Saturday evenings. He often bicycles the Gordon’s Pond trail and occasionally goes to the private North Shores beach.
When Biden was in Rehoboth Beach for a week earlier this summer, he and Jill Biden one night went to Matt’s Fish Camp in Lewes for dinner and then to the Movies at Midway to see “Oppenheimer.”
The president has been in Washington for most of the week, dealing with the Maui wildfire and Hurricane Idalia, meeting with Costa Rican President Rodrigo Chavez Robles and announcing judicial nominees, among other things.
