PHILADELPHIA − After the Eagles made a flurry of moves to get down to the 53-man roster, the Eagles made two things abundantly clear:
The first is the moves were mostly at the bottom of the roster, signifying that the Eagles perceive themselves as deep and loaded. Even the trade 15 minutes before the 4 p.m. deadline, in which the Eagles got tight end Albert Okwuegbunam from the Denver Broncos, was a minor one.
The Eagles also got a seventh-round pick in 2025 in the deal while giving up a sixth-round pick in 2025.

Okwuegbunam was the Broncos’ fourth-round pick in 2020. He had 10 catches for 95 yards last season. His best season was in 2021 when he had 33 catches for 330 yards.
Last year, the Eagles traded for starting safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson. This season, the Eagles appear comfortable enough with Reed Blankenship and some combination of rookie Sydney Brown and veterans Terrell Edmunds and Justin Evans at safety.
The other is that the Eagles don’t have a punter on the roster after releasing Arryn Siposs. Siposs had won a competition earlier in camp with Ty Zentner. But the Eagles decided to move on after Siposs’ poor punt in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl led to a Kansas City touchdown.
It’s likely that the Eagles’ punter will be signed off the waiver wire.
The Eagles also moved on from veteran linebacker Nicholas Morrow, whom they signed in free agency, and safety K’Von Wallace, their fourth-round pick in 2020.
The rest of the roster consists of veterans coming off the Super Bowl, along with their draft picks. Some of them should have prominent roles this season, including first rounders Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith, both defensive linemen.
As for undrafted free agents, only cornerback Eli Ricks made the roster after three made it in 2022.
