The boat ramp and parking lot at Griffith Lake on Williamsville Road near Milford are closed while state agencies investigate a leaky dam.
Seepage was confirmed to be occurring under the Griffith Lake spillway during a quarterly inspection Wednesday, according to Department of Transportation spokesman C.R. McLeod.
“We are coordinating with (the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control) to draw down the water level of the lake so the issue can be investigated further,” McLeod said via email.
Griffith Lake is mainly used for recreational purposes, but at least one farmer draws water from the lake for irrigation, according to McLeod.
Griffith Lake Drive, adjacent to the dam, remains open.
