US: Ex-President Trump faces midnight deadline to decide whether to appear before grand jury


 

Donald Trump, the former president of the United States, faced a critical cutoff time of midnight on Thursday (July 20) to decide whether he would make an appearance before a Washington grand jury assembled by Special Counsel Jack Smith. The grand jury was convened to examine federal charges concerning Trump’s purported involvement in election subversion and his role in inciting the attack on Congress that occurred on January 6, 2021.
