Downtown Wilmington’s Chancery Market Food Hall is getting two new stalls: Pokelicious and Agave Mexican Grill.
Pokelicious will operate at a stall next to Kati Roll Wala and offer poke bowls patrons can customize.
Agave will replace the Fuku Fried Chicken stall.
Where is Chancery Market Food Hall in Wilmington?
Chancery Market Food Hall is located on the bottom floor of the building once known as Hercules Plaza. The $5 million, 12,000-square-foot market has been in operation since December 2022. It has seven food concepts and a bar.
What is Agave?
Despite the name, Agave is not an offshoot of the popular Agave Mexican restaurants in Lewes and Rehoboth Beach and a similarly named but separate Agave Mexican Cuisine restaurant in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.
Both stalls are expected to open in the next few weeks, according to a newsletter sent out by Johnson Commercial Real Estate, which owns the building at 1313 N. Market St.
Agave is “a food truck that came to us looking to expand into their first brick-and-mortar location,” Gaby Indellini, director of marketing and communications for Johnson Commerical Real Estate, told Delaware Online/The News Journal on Friday. It has no affiliations with the restaurants in Sussex County or Chadds Ford, she said.
Indellini said more information about the new Agave stall is coming soon.
What is Fuku?
Fuku is licensed and managed by HospitalityHQ, a Brooklyn-based culinary consulting and food hall management firm led by chef, restaurateur, cookbook author and co-founder Akhtar Nawab, who is overseeing the management of the Wilmington food hall.
The fried chicken venture was founded by chef, author and TV star David Chang. It is best known for its spicy fried chicken sandwich, a habanero-brined thigh served on a Martin’s potato roll Fuku was available at Eagles games at Lincoln Financial Field from 2018 to about 2021 but is no longer one of the concession stands at the Philadelphia stadium.
Why is it being replaced at Chancery Market?
“The goal has always been to help local vendors, so when Agave came to them with interest, it made sense to replace Fuku (which is a concept they felt had run its course) with a vendor that had local ties and was looking to expand,” Indellini said in an email.
What is Pokelicious?
Pokelicious is the first Delaware food business from Venezuelan-born proprietor and chef Jhonathan Gomez.
Its menu will include fresh tuna, salmon, shrimp, and chicken teriyaki, along with mix-ins and sauces, as well as seasonal fruit-infused water and homemade desserts.
Even though the Fuku is leaving the market, fried chicken will be sold at the Market St. Burger & Dog stall, according to Johnson Real Estate.
