A civilian aircraft was intercepted by a NORAD F-16 fighter jet for violating restricted airspace at Rehoboth Beach. President Joe Biden spent time at his vacation home in Rehoboth this weekend and was seen on the beach.
According to the agency, the civilian plane violated temporary restrictions at 10:10 a.m. Saturday. Intercepting aircraft dispensed flares in an attempt to gain the attention of the pilot. It was escorted out of the area.
It was announced that the president would be at his vacation home from July 7 to July 9. In advance of his arrival, the Federal Aviation Administration issued temporary flight restrictions on July 5 around his North Shores beach home. Typical security measures taken when Biden is in town include road, water and air restrictions.
According to his public schedule, Biden was to depart Rehoboth Beach this morning around 9:30 a.m. to fly from Dover to London, the United Kingdom.
