The shooting occurred about a block from where a young man was shot about a decade ago. On Monday evening, his mother sat at Ninth and Kirkwood streets with large, heart-shaped balloons.
She said she comes out annually to remember her son ahead of the Fourth of July holiday.
Less than 12 hours later, just after 8 a.m. Wednesday, another person was shot in the city.
That shooting occurred in West Center City, in the 1200 block of W. Fourth St. The 21-year-old man who was injured was listed as “stable.”
