Father’s Day is a day to cherish a father, grandfather or other fatherly figure for their personal and unique impact on your life.
But that doesn’t mean those same people are without their shared quirks and behaviors, perhaps none more enduring than dad jokes.
Here in Delaware, we are no strangers to dad jokes.
Read on to hear the most common, most annoying, and learn about some special beers and events to toast the power of this eye-rolling humor:
Delaware’s most common dad joke

Delaware’s most common dad joke is “Hi, Hungry, I’m Dad,” in response to a child saying, “I’m hungry,” according to a 2023 survey of 1,500 American dads and 1,000 of their partners. The pun is the most common joke in nine states and the most popular nationwide, the study shows.
The survey also revealed that Delaware has one of the highest frequencies of dad jokes among states, edging out Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia. Neighboring Pennsylvania hears the most dad jokes.
