Welcome to Saturday, Small Wonder!
If you have a Mom in your life, I really hope you don’t need me to remind you of this … but just in case, tomorrow is her special day.
The most obvious dining experiences are likely booked up, but there is still time to get creative and make a reservation somewhere (check the apps), plan a picnic, order takeout or make her something special.
I’ll tuck a few ideas along the way today’s update, including some last-minute gift options.
We’ve also got lots of fun events for you to check out, too. Whatever you do this weekend, do enjoy!
The sun’ll come out tomorrow …
We may be in for some rainy weather today but the weather folks tell me Sunday will bring sunshine, so Mom can leave her cute spring raincoat at home. (If she doesn’t have a cute spring raincoat yet … you’re welcome!)
Saturday is expected to be rainy, with a high of 75, and Sunday so far is about the same, temps-wise, and partly sunny. But look on the bright side, for her sake.
Don’t miss the Flower Market
The 102nd annual Wilmington Flower Market will take place through Saturday in Rockford Park with carnival rides, retail and food vendors and a visit from a certain phanatical mascot over the weekend.
A portion of all sales of flowers, merchandise and food will go toward funds to be distributed to dozens of nonprofit organizations supporting children in Delaware.
Wilmington’s Flower Market has been a staple since its inception in 1921 and has been held at Rockford Park since the early 1950s.

Everything’s better in spring …
It’s farmers market seasons, one of our favorite seasons. Asparagus, baby lettuce, ramps and fiddleheads, what’s not to like? Check out our guide here.
If you are a fan of strawberries, food reporter Patricia Talorico had a scoop on their arrival in this week’s Delaware Eats newsletter:
Filasky’s Produce in Middletown says while the season is almost here, local strawberries are not yet ready yet for picking, she reports.
