If you caught Tuesday’s episode of “Wheel of Fortune,” you might have seen one of Delaware’s own graced the stage with show host Pat Sajak.
Derrick T. Lewis, 44, of Newark, competed on the popular game show this week as part of the show’s WWE Week special.
Lewis is a WWE announcer and avid fan of the industry, so WWE Week was a fitting theme for his stint on the game show.

Through the end of this week, contestants competing in this special edition of the show will pair up with WWE Superstars to compete for the chance to win cars, cash and WWE-themed prizes.
Lewis said the biggest surprise of the experience was when his partner was revealed to be WWE Superstar Sonya Deville, an old friend who he didn’t know would be on the show until they were paired up, he said.
Although Lewis and Deville didn’t win “Wheel of Fortune,” he previously told DelawareOnline/The News Journal that the experience was still a great opportunity that resulted in lots of success in other ways.
As a lifelong fan of the show, Lewis described his time onstage spinning the big wheel and meeting Pat Sajak as “surreal,” adding that the other contestants quickly became good friends due to their shared love of WWE.
And Lewis didn’t come home completely empty-handed. He won $7,550 in cash!
After tonight’s winning duo is crowned, the three biggest winning pairs will come back on the show during this week’s final installment to battle for a VIP trip to WrestleMania 39 and the title of WWE Wheel of Fortune Tournament Champion.
