The City of Wilmington will test its Emergency Alert and Notification system tomorrow morning, announced by the Wilmington Police Department.
Thirteen sirens located throughout Wilmington will sound and test verbal announcements around 10:45 a.m. This test will last from three to five minutes.
The sirens were installed in 2005 as an added means to alert residents and businesses in the city to emergencies.
The siren system is part of Wilmington’s expanded emergency notification capabilities that include subscription-based Smart 911 and non-subscription Integrated Public Alert Warning System (IPAWS). Through IPAWS, messages and calls can be sent to cellular devices in a designated area.
