A 24-year-old man found dead in a car along Route 896 in Glasgow on Christmas night had a gunshot wound, according to Delaware State Police
Troopers initially responded to the scene at 9:48 p.m. for a report of a crash on Route 896 just south of Route 40.
Troopers located a single vehicle in a wooded area west of the roadway. They found the 24-year-old driver alone inside the vehicle. Police are withholding his identification until his next of kin have been contacted.
Police said emergency medical services attempted to revive the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the location. An examination of the victim’s body revealed a gunshot wound.
The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit was called to the scene and took over the investigation. Route 896 south was closed for almost 10 hours while the incident was investigated. Detectives are actively investigating the scene of the incident and potential suspects.
