A fatal two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Lewes sent five people to the hospital, according to Delaware State Police.
Troopers said one of the passengers in the crash died.
Police said that at 3:48 p.m. Saturday, a Subaru Outback was traveling eastbound on Minos Conaway Road as a Lexus RX traveled westbound. According to their report, the driver of the Subaru, a 75-year-old man from Lewes, veered on a curve in the road and entered the pathway of the westbound Lexus. The two vehicles collided in a near head-on crash.
The driver of the Subaru, as well as his front passenger, a 104-year-old woman from Lewes, and the rear passenger, a 73-year-old woman from Lewes, were transported to a local hospital for serious injuries. Ultimately, the rear passenger died from her injuries while at the hospital. Her identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin notifications.
Both the driver of the Lexus, a 69-year-old man from Lewes, and his passenger, a 68-year-old woman from Lewes, were also taken to an area hospital for serious injuries.

Police said all occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.
Minos Conaway Road was closed for almost four hours for the initial investigation and road clearing.
Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit said the incident remains an active investigation and are asking that witnesses of this crash contact Sr. Cpl. R. Albert by calling 302-703-3266 with information.
