When motorcycle riders from all around roll in for OC BikeFest each year, it’s always to a rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack, and next year will be no exception with a huge dose of legendary Southern rock.
BikeFest organizers have announced its first live act for 2023, none other than Lynyrd Skynyrd, the band behind “Free Bird” and so many other Southern rock classics.
When and where to see them
The Southern rock titans are set to play the main stage at the OC Inlet on Sept. 16, 2023. BikeFest always offers a mix of country, rock and more, so check back at Delmarva Now as more acts will be announced.
The legend of Lynyrd Skynyrd
The story of Lynyrd Skynyrd is well known by now, and it’s a mix of tragedy and triumph.
The band was launched 41 years ago in Jacksonville, Florida, and tragically lost three members in a 1977 plane crash, including Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines. In between and after, though, they’ve produced a string of hits that are favorites for rock devotees.

At the band’s peak until the plane crash, other big hits included “Sweet Home Alabama,” “What’s Your Name,” “Saturday Night Special” and many more still beloved today.
With Johnny Van Zant now on lead vocals, the band just keeps rockin’ on.
