Washout causes train derailment in Orneville


ORNEVILLE, Maine (WABI) – Piscataquis County authorities are on scene of a train derailment in Orneville, about seven miles from Milo.

Six train cars derailed around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday due to a washout near Route 16.

We’re told one of the engines was severely damaged.

According to Canadian Pacific Railway, the train crew was not injured and there are no public safety issues.

No roads are blocked at this time but there is an asphalt leak going into the bog.

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection and Milo Fire Department are on the scene investigating.
