LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two Las Vegas men are facing felony drug charges in Virginia after they were reportedly caught trying to sneak nearly 73 pounds of marijuana into a flight bound for Paris in their checked luggage.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, on Thursday, Feb. 22, customs officers at Dulles International Airport in Loudoun County examining luggage going onto a flight bound for Keflavik, Iceland found 68 vacuum-sealed bags of “a green, leafy substance” that was field tested and came up positive for marijuana.
The owners of the bags were identified as 33-year-old Kaliq Talib McCallister and 28-year-old Christian Tyler Knight, who were traveling through Iceland to Paris. Both men, as well as the marijuana, were turned over to Virginia State Police.
The marijuana weighed a combined 72 pounds, 15 ounces. According to Customs and Border Protection, it has a total street value of $350,000 in the United States and potentially two to three times that amount in Paris.
