A Sunday evening fire in Wilmington injured a firefighter and damaged six homes that were undergoing renovations due to flooding from Hurricane Ida last year, city fire officials said.
Firefighters were called to the 1000 block of E. 13th St. just after 7:30 p.m. for reports of the blaze. There, they found flames coming from the front of a row home and a “large amount of smoke” coming from the back.
Firefighters quickly searched the house and adjacent homes for residents but found none. All six residences had been deemed unlivable after Ida’s September flooding and were undergoing repairs, a Wilmington Fire Department spokesman said.

Several of the buildings had missing floors and walls because of renovations, which fire officials said allowed smoke into multiple homes.
One firefighter suffered minor wrist burns in the blaze and was treated at a local hospital then released. No one else was injured.
The blaze comes on the heels of a fatal fire in Little Creek Sunday afternoon that killed two people, including a 9-year-old girl, and seriously injured three others.
