Five sailors suffering from apparent carbon monoxide poisoning were rescued from a cargo ship off the Delaware coast on Christmas Day and brought to Delaware for treatment.
The U.S. Coast Guard and volunteer fire companies in Bethany and Lewes received calls for medical help shortly after noon from the Reggeborg, a Netherlands ship traveling from Jacksonville, Florida.
The cargo ship was 11 miles east of the Indian River Bay when local fire crews began responding to the report for assistance.
According to the Coast Guard, the Lewes Fire Department transported three sailors to the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company, and the U.S. Coast Guard took two others to their Delaware Bay station for treatment.

The Coast Guard reported that all five mariners were treated and are now back on board their vessel.
