A 36-year-old woman from Middletown became Delaware’s first MORE SERIOUS MONEY top prize winner last week.
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, had a “lucky feeling” at Smith’s Liquors on Summit Bridge Road in Townsend and decided to buy five Instant Game tickets instead of her usual of two.
Of that bunch, one was the prize-winning ticket for the Instant Game MORE SERIOUS MONEY $300,000 top prize.
The Middletown resident has been a Delaware Lottery player since 2011 and was shocked, as was her husband, when she realized her “spur of the moment decision” led to a hefty win, she said in a Delaware Lottery statement.
The winner claimed her winnings from Lottery Headquarters in Dover on Jan. 19 and is still thinking about what to do with her newfound money, adding she is excited about the win but in no rush to decide how to use it just yet.
Big bucks on the line:As Mega Millions jackpot surpasses $1B, what are the odds a Delaware resident could win?
With this prize now claimed, two $300,000 top prizes still remain for the $30 price point Instant Game MORE SERIOUS MONEY, along with 10 $10,000 prizes.
