Chipotle wants you to score some free food when the U.S. women’s national soccer team scores during the 2023 World Cup.
Your chance to win free food comes during the team’s first three games in the group stage of the tournament. The USWNT’s first match is Friday at 9 p.m. ET vs. Vietnam.
During that game and the subsequent two games when the team scores a go-ahead goal, a tying goal, or a lead-extending goal, a unique code for a free entrée will be posted on the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team Twitter account (@USWNT). The first 2,500 fans to text the code to 888222 will get a free digital entrée.
The USWNT also plays July 26 at 9 p.m. ET vs. Netherlands and August 1 at 3 a.m. ET vs. Portugal.
Win free food at Chipotle
When the USWNT scores a goal putting the team ahead, increases the team’s lead or ties the game, a code will be sent out from the USWNT’s Twitter account. The first 2,500 to text the code to 888222 will be notified by text they have won a free entrée. (Limit one code per person; promo ends when the game is over or all codes are claimed, whichever happens first. Standard text and data rates may apply.)
Sports events have become a reliable venue for food giveaways. Chipotle dropped codes on Twitter last year during the men’s World Cup and for three-pointers made during the NBA Finals. And Taco Bell, for several years, has been giving away free tacos when a stolen base occurs in the World Series.
Pineapple Pepsi?:It’s a thing. The tropical soda returns exclusively at Little Caesars.
Chipotle teams with soccer stars Rose Lavelle and Sophia Smith
During the World Cup, Chipotle is adding some exclusive items to its digital menu, created with the help of USWNT stars Rose Lavelle and Sophia Smith.
- The Rose Lavelle bowl: Chicken, brown rice, black beans, tomato salsa, roasted chili-corn salsa, lettuce, guacamole, and a side of chipotle-honey vinaigrette dressing.
- The Sophia Smith Bowl: Chicken, brown rice, black beans, pinto beans, tomatillo-red chili salsa, roasted chili-corn salsa, sour cream, and cheese.
You can order the limited-time menu items in the Chipotle app and on Chipotle.com. Also through August 14, Chipotle is supporting Folds of Honor, which funds $5,000 college scholarships to families of America’s fallen and disabled service members with its Round Up for Real Change feature online and on the app.
Lavelle, who has been sponsored by Chipotle since 2019, also has a dipping strategy she deploys, according to the fast-food chain: “The Triple Dip,” with a chip dipped first in guacamole, then salad dressing, and then her bowl.
Smith and Lavelle had their customized bowls – and their careers – highlighted in a campaign last summer. They will soon appear in TV commercials and in videos shared to the American Outlaws social channels, an unofficial U.S. soccer support group (Instagram: @americanoutlaws, Twitter: @AmericanOutlawss). Other videos will include behind-the-scenes content about the matches and the trip to the tournament by the American Outlaws.
