Two people were critically injured in an early morning house fire near New Castle, according to officials.
The fire started shortly after 6 a.m. in a single-story home in the first block of Onaway Place in the Garfield Park Development, Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio said.
Firefighters rescued two people who were trapped inside the house and transported them to Christiana Hospital in critical condition, according to Chionchio.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, officials said.
