1973: Moscow Walkout by Chinese Envoy

MOSCOW, April 20 — The Chinese chargé d’affaires walked out of the hall today during a Kremlin speech by Soviet Politburo member Dmitri Ustinov.

The Chinese official, Ma Lieh, was seen to leave his seat, along with another Chinese diplomat, when Mr. Ustinov attacked the “anti-Leninist chauvinist position” of Peking in a speech marking the anniversary Lenin’s birth.

Walkouts by Soviet diplomats in Peking and Chinese diplomats in Moscow have become a regular feature in recent years.
